Virgil Abloh is one of fashion’s buzziest names. The menswear designer has been appointed at Louis Vuitton 2 years ago, and in that time the creative manager has produced a slew of significant tote hits for the brand. Known for his ideal blend of cool streetwear meets designer fashion, Abloh was well-known before his appointment at the French style house.
Ever since he started his tenure at Louis Vuitton, Abloh has seamlessly mended his casual, downtown street aesthetic together with Louis Vuitton’s historic House codes and motifs. His collections are highly sought after season after season, along with his bags are a few of the very coveted for the newest –men’s or women’s collections alike. The video featured cartoon animal stowaways who had jumped onto Louis Vuitton transport containers in Paris and finally made it into Shanghai. It was those very same animals who were seen throughout the Spring 2021 runway show, on RTW and accessories, including plastered onto LV crossbody bags and dangling from other silhouettes.
One of the House’s most iconic staples, the Keepall Bandouliere, has become an essential component of Abloh’s collections, along with the Spring 2021 season wasn’t any different. This year, the designer revisited the recognizable design, yet offering interesting and covetable fresh updates. The beloved Soft Trunk was featured in giant Damier in fresh colorways and tones, and it was these beloved shapes which were the most prominent of this new collection.
While a number of his designs border on announcement making pieces which are beyond the world of wearable, such as a Panda bear tote, Abloh’s longer street-appropriate bits will probably resonate with the brand’s recent consumer. See more from the show below.
